November 13, 2006 8:30pm - UDP Plots to Increase Coverage
Volunteer managers of UDP met Saturday to begin preparing plans for an expansion of security patrol coverage. "We're developing a scheme that would result in more manpower on the streets for more hours" stated UDP's financial manager. Preliminary plans call for more night time hours and a stronger presence during certain periods of elevated caution, such as around holidays. The increase in street presence is being made possible by a moderate uptick in the number of member households. No start date for coverage increase has been set but changes could be implimented at any time.

A resident in the Parkside #2 block reports a second attempt in two months to steal wheels from a vehicle parked in the backyard during overnight hours around 2am to 3am. April 1. 2006 11:50pm - December to January Crime Stats Reported To UDCA
The Detroit Police Department released crime stats for the district covering parts of December 2005 and January 2006. The stats indicate a generally low to very low level of reported crime in the district for the period. The ability to get up-to-date and accurate stats from DPD over the years has been hit and miss. Hopefully this is the beginning of a long period of hits. Deputy Police Chief Mashall Lyons has committed to providing UDCA with current stats on a regular basis. To see all the stats click on "Stats" on the top of page menu.--
